Our Seva Yoga program is designed for those who wish to explore meditation and develop or maintain their spiritual practices in a setting that nurtures the spirit and quiets the mind. Participants offer 30 to 40 hours of service per week. It might be cooking meals for 10 or more, cleaning cabins, carpentry, grounds maintenance and gardening. This ancient, Eastern practice of seva (meaning “selfless service”) is the most vital activity of our Seva Yoga Program.
Other activities include:
- Daily sadhana (chanting, meditation, hatha yoga, energization)
- Attending (optional) courses in the Yogananda tradition at our sister facility down the road, the Expanding Light
- Attending (optional) events in the Ananda Village in order to experience life in a large-scale spiritual community
The program is tailored to an individual’s needs and aspirations; it may last from 2 weeks up to 4 months. Depending upon the hours of service offered monthly, participants are asked to contribute $500 (40 hours per week) or $650 per month (30 hours per week) toward their room and board.
